In addition to classes in our brick-and-mortar studio, Upbeat Academy provides workshops, master classes, and satellite programs to under resourced students in the Greater New Orleans area in partnership with community organizations.

COVENANT HOUSE

Since 2017, Upbeat Academy has partnered with the Covenant House to provide a weekly meeting class at their facility. Covenant House is a shelter for homeless and runaway youth in New Orleans, LA where teens can find food and shelter day and night and are accepted without question or cost. They offer young people protection from the streets and from their pasts, stressing the reality of the present moment, and encourage belief in their potential for the future.

LOUISIANA CENTER FOR CHILDREN'S RIGHTS

Upbeat Academy has worked closely with young people at the Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights (LCCR) since 2014, offering flexible, open-enrollment into our after school programming. LCCR defends children in the juvenile justice system, standing up for their rights and helping them achieve their goals, through direct representation and policy advocacy.

SON OF A SAINT

Since 2019, Upbeat Academy has been working with Son of a Saint, providing bi-weekly digital audio classes. Son of a Saint seeks to enhance the lives of fatherless boys through mentorship, emotional support, the development of life skills, exposure to constructive experiences, and formation of positive, lasting peer-to-peer relationships.

CENTER FOR RESILIENCE
​

Since the 2019 Spring semester. Upbeat Academy has provided bi-weekly classes to students at the Center for Resilience during their school day. The Center for Resilience is the only therapeutic day treatment/partial hospital program in Louisiana providing educational and intensive mental health support to ensure the emotional well-being and academic readiness of children with emotional health and trauma-related needs of children in the greater New Orleans area. Children receive instructional, medical, and therapeutic services at their day program site on the campus of Children’s Hospital, with the goal of building the skills to successfully transition back to the traditional school setting. Upbeat Academy introduces CFR students to the basics of music production while incorporating a unique method of teaching finger-drumming, timing and coordination on beat machines that allows students to track their progress in real time and incorporates the Center for Resilience methodology of perseverance.
